Breastfeeding & Bottle Feeding Support Class in Lafayette, CA

Practical guidance, real answers, and a community of moms who get it — all in one hour.

Led by Dr. Kara Rangel, DC, IBCLC — Doctor of Chiropractic and International Board-Certified Lactation Consultant

A Lactation Support Class Unlike Any Other

Most breastfeeding classes leave you with a packet and a lot of unanswered questions. This one doesn't.

Every Tuesday in Lafayette, Dr. Kara Rangel leads a small, intimate group designed to give new and expecting parents real-time guidance, hands-on support, and the kind of honest conversation you can't always get at a pediatrician appointment.

Whether you're breastfeeding, pumping, combo-feeding, or still figuring it out — you belong here.

What You'll Learn & Do

This one-hour class covers the practical essentials of infant feeding, including:

  • Weighted feed — optional pre- and post-feed weigh-in to estimate milk transfer

  • Latch and positioning — small adjustments that make a significant difference in comfort and efficiency

  • Feeding cues and output tracking — how to know your baby is actually getting enough

  • Troubleshooting common challenges — nipple pain, clogged ducts, fussiness, supply concerns, and slow weight gain

  • Pumping and bottle basics — parts, flange fit, paced feeding technique, and bottle introduction

  • Open Q&A and peer support — leave with clarity, connection, and a plan

FAQ’s

  • At this time, the group is reserved for moms and babies. Many attendees are navigating breastfeeding for the first time and sharing vulnerable experiences — keeping the group intimate creates a safer space for that. Partners are warmly welcomed at private lactation consultations.

  • Not at all. Combo-feeding, pumping, and supplementing families are fully supported here.

  • Baby is weighed on a sensitive scale immediately before and after a feeding to estimate how much milk was transferred. It's optional and only used when helpful for your specific situation.

  • This class is educational and supportive. For complex or individualized concerns, a one-on-one lactation consultation is recommended.

What They Say….

“I am so thankful I found Dr. Kara! I was having such a hard time breastfeeding and my son seemed like he was uncomfortable and in pain most of the day. After our first session with Dr. Kara I was blown away. She looked in my baby’s mouth and was showing me why he was having trouble feeding and strongly suspected a tongue and lip tie. She did bodywork on him that first day and I noticed a huge improvement in our nursing sessions immediately. He was able to open his mouth wider getting a deeper latch and stayed on the breast longer without pulling away. We did a few more bodywork sessions, got our son’s tongue and lip tie released and continued with bodywork afterwards. He is literally a brand new baby!”
